orbient…music for the iss

while every cargo flight of an american spacecraft or russian proton-rocket increases the size and beauty of the iss (international space station) in orbit, nasa and rsa recently decided to start up the project orbient. during earlier missions into space, the crew often complained about the intolerable sound quality of their small transistor radios. from now onwards, special musical accompaniment for the life and work modules of the station will be provided, which will finally meet the demands of the men and the women's extraordinary working environment up there. while nasa installs a network of high-quality hifi-components covering the whole station, it is orbient's task to develop the appropriate music and to perform live shows. the support of gm electronics and zero g, the artists of orbient, will be realised through unusual forms of cultural sponsorship. the entertainment module "sinatra", financed by different companies, will be connected to the iss in just a few months. for all those individuals, who didn't pass the cosmonaut test in baikonur or can't leave planet earth for other reasons, the music of orbient offers a way out and eases those lives weighed down by gravity.
